Understanding the importance

A pivotal member of the 14forty team, our expert Security Advisor Tim Isaac recently attended a webinar titled 'Fight for Fairness' hosted by Guard Pass, the UK’s leading security industry platform for employers and workers. Tim shares his thoughts and learnings from the webinar and how 14forty is working to improve fairness in the security industry.

A core principle running throughout this webinar was the importance of fairness in decision-making processes, highlighting how it impacts trust and organisational integrity. Attendees learned about the legal standards and regulations that govern fairness in the workplace, ensuring compliance and ethical practices and practical strategies were shared on identifying and mitigating unconscious biases that can affect fairness in hiring, promotions, and daily operations. The session underscored the need for inclusive practices that consider diverse perspectives, promoting a more equitable environment.

Real-world examples and case studies illustrated how companies successfully implemented fairness principles, offering actionable insights. Additionally, the session highlighted the importance of engaging all stakeholders, including employees, management, and external partners, to foster a culture of fairness. The webinar concluded with a call to action for continuous assessment and improvement of fairness practices, ensuring they evolve with changing societal and organisational dynamics.

How 14forty fight for fairness

We’re committed to creating a fairer security industry. To create a positive impact in the industry, we pay for our officers’ SIA License (every 3 years) plus any extra legislated training that’s required. Site/contract-specific training is also offered to our officers and full uniform and PPE is provided. 14forty strives to offer a good work-life balance, with an aim to have a 42-hour work week, alongside a range of additional employee add-ons, such as Perks at Work and the Aviva Health Programme.
