Managing Stress and avoiding burnout

1 in 5 UK workers felt unable to manage pressure and stress levels at work according to a poll by MHUK and YouGov in March 2021.

For those who have been working from home, it may be struggling to draw a line between personal and working life or feelings of isolation. For others, it may be workload piling up to levels that feel overwhelming and never-ending. When this happens over a long period of time it can cause physical and emotional exhaustion, often referred to as burnout.

Common signs of burnout include; tiredness, self-doubt, procrastination, becoming cynical or feeling helpless, defeated, detached and overwhelmed.

One key strategy to managing stress at work is taking regular breaks. This can help you to refresh, get away from your screen or working area and grab something quick to drink or eat to keep energy levels high. There are several more simple steps you can explore to address the specific stresses in your work life, read more from Mental Health UK here.
